Glasses For All Children

One in four children are affected by vision impairment and one in five children can't afford eye care. For over a decade, the Glazer Vision Foundation has been committed to full-treatment vision correction for underserved children by providing more than 100,000 free eye screenings and over 20,000 free pairs of prescription glasses throughout Tampa Bay.

Every Child Deserves Clear Sight

Vision impairment affects 1 in 4 children creating a barrier to learning in school, and 1 in 5 children can’t afford eye care. For over a decade, we have been committed to full-treatment vision correction for underserved children in Tampa Bay. More than 100,000 free eye screenings and over 20,000 free pairs of prescription glasses have been provided to children in need. As part of our ongoing commitment to the success of children, through a lead gift, the Foundation has also championed the Glazer Children’s Museum in its mission to transform children into lifelong learners.

The Silent Vision Crisis

1 in 4 children have vision impairment that often goes undetected. One of the most frequent medical conditions faced by children in the U.S., this directly impacts their ability to learn. Studies have shown that 60% of children with learning difficulties have undetected vision problems that can easily be misdiagnosed as learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders.

While 80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or cured through screenings, eye exams, and accurate prescription glasses, one in five children cannot afford eye care.

The Glazer Vision Foundation seeks to end the Vision Crisis in Tampa Bay by spreading awareness about the importance of proper eyecare as well as providing free eye screenings, eye exams and glasses for children in need.

Supporting Vision Through Art

The Glazer Vision Foundation has created a traveling art installation to raise awareness and encourage the community to share the hashtag #OneShareOnePair. At each of the stops, you have a chance to engage and take pictures with these large pair of frames that truly help to bring awareness to the vision crisis. Through our mission, we want to provide glasses for all children who may need them – so please join us on our journey.

Our Inspiration

When he was young, our father, Malcolm Glazer, had a life-changing moment the day he received his first pair of glasses. His vision was corrected and he felt this contributed greatly to his ability to succeed. We honor the legacy of our father and his strong belief in the power of children by providing eye exams and prescription glasses to children in need. By providing proper vision care to children, we open up the view of their world so they can become their greatest selves.
